We believe privacy is a right. SELAM Ecosystem is committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what we collect and why.
1. Who We Are
SELAM Ecosystem is a multi-service digital platform operated by Zagol Studio, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our platform includes parking management (ParkET), travel services (Ethio Vacation), food delivery (Mesob Takeaway), and related services accessible via selam.icu and its subdomains.

2. What Data We Collect
- Account Data — Name, email address, phone number, and password (hashed) when you create an account.
- Profile Data — Vehicle registration, national ID (for KYC where required), profile photo.
- Usage Data — Pages visited, features used, time spent, device type, browser, IP address (anonymised after 30 days).
- Location Data — GPS coordinates when using parking or delivery features (only while the app is in use, with your explicit permission).
- Payment Data — Transaction amounts and references. We do not store full card numbers — payment processing is handled by licensed payment providers (CBE, Telebirr, Stripe, PayPal).
- Communications — Messages you send to our support team.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve our services
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud
- To process payments and send receipts
- To send service notifications (parking alerts, booking confirmations, delivery updates)
- To comply with Ethiopian law and regulatory requirements
- To analyse usage patterns and improve platform performance
- To respond to support requests
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contract — Processing necessary to provide the services you've signed up for
- Consent — Where you have explicitly agreed (e.g. marketing emails, location tracking)
- Legal Obligation — Where required by Ethiopian law (e.g. tax records, KYC)
- Legitimate Interest — Security monitoring and fraud prevention
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Service Providers — Cloud hosting, payment processors, SMS/email notification providers, map services
- Enforcement Authorities — Where legally required (e.g. parking violation enforcement)
- Business Partners — Restaurant partners (Mesob) and travel operators receive only the data necessary to fulfil your booking
6. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure
- Transaction records: 7 years (Ethiopian tax law requirement)
- Location data: 90 days then automatically deleted
- Analytics data: 13 months, then aggregated and anonymised
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdrawal of Consent — Withdraw consent for optional processing at any time
- Objection — Object to processing based on legitimate interest

8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, regular security audits, role-based access controls, and two-factor authentication for staff accounts. However, no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong unique password and enable 2FA on your account.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us immediately.
10. International Transfers
Your data is primarily stored on servers in Ethiopia. Where we use international cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud), data transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email or an in-app notice. The current version is always available at selam.icu/legal.html.
